The 5th Airedale Terrier Walk Around Bingley

We had another very successful day. We were delighted to see so many people and dogs. Every year the numbers increase and this year there were around 70 Airedales plus a few honorary Airedales. Thank you to everyone who came along, it makes all the preparation worthwhile. What a splendid sight it was to see so many Airedales back in Bingley, enjoying a walk together along the banks of the river Aire.
The highlight of this years walk was that BBC North had decided our walk was of sufficient interest to the local area to do a news report on the return of the Airedale Terrier to Airedale. Spencer Stokes the BBC commentator and cameraman arrived in good time and stayed with us for several hours. He spent time interviewing many Airedalers and took plenty of film of our dogs. We never knew when he was going to pop up at various points on the walk. He appeared to enjoy the day. We hope he did, as he was such a pleasant person to be with. We were very pleased with the news report that he produced which showed the true essence of our wonderful breed and why we all love and admire them so much. We have learned since that the news report was on the Internet and was seen by Airedalers all over the UK and Abroad.
When we arrived back from our walk David and Denise's BBQ was in great demand and enjoyed by all, followed by Mavis' scrumptious cakes with tea or coffee.
Throughout the day people took advantage to buy items of special interest for Airedalers from our Breed Stall run by Richard and Judith
The afternoon finished with games for the dogs; of which the sausage game was the favourite. This was followed by the Pet Dog show. There were prizes and rosettes for the winners presented by the Commodore of the Boat Club and she said we would be welcome to come next year as both dogs and humans had been so well behaved!
At the end of the day we were pleased to see so many happy dogs and people.

Y&ECATC Open show Sunday 1st November 2009

Our Judge; Joanne Glover-Byrne (Jodean), did a splendid job of judging her first breed club open show with 27 dogs making 35 class entries with only 2 absent and 19 pet class entries.
It was wonderful to see the veterans in the ring thoroughly enjoying their day out and it was good to have 4 entered in the class, although 2 were absent which was a shame. The winner was David and Denise Brown's 9 year old Ch. Dendaric Queen of the Dales - It was great to see her in the ring again.
There were many favourable comments on the atmosphere of the show and it was really good to have members of other breed clubs join us despite the awful weather conditions they experienced getting to the show.
